Caring for Our Watershed Contest 2014

Lanier Eco-Team was the top 10 finalist in Caring for Our Watersheds Contest at George Mason University on 4/10/14. Students presented their proposal to the panel of judges. Eco-team’s proposal was on water harvesting/conservation. They had proposed to build funnel over the rain barrel to directly collect rain water since the school courtyard has internal drainage system (no gutters). Collected water will be used to fill the vernal pool where Mallard ducks raise their young. Lanier Eco-Team competed with Fairfax, Alexandria, and Arlington County Schools and was placed 7th in the regional contest. Check out link below!
