Eco Club in Action

Lanier students engaged in maintaining the Outdoor Living Classroom during Eco-Club. Students learn life skills along with applying content learned in class. Eco-Club also provides all students to earn service hours and be better ethical global citizens of their community. School wide recycle collection is done by students as well.

Virginia Naturally School Recognition

Classes Planting Grasses – Caring for Our Watershed!

Lanier students had been growing “Wild Celery” (SAV) during winter season in their classes. On May 31st, 2017 students, staff and parents went to Mason Neck Park, Virginia to plant these grasses in Potomac river. This project was part of the Caring for Our Watershed/Earth Force and Chesapeake Bay Foundation environmental stewardship program.

Kid Wind Challenge Nationals 2017

The Lanier MS “SPINNERS” team won 2nd place at the Kid Wind Challenge Nationals 2017 wind turbine competition held at the Convention Center, Anaheim, CA. They competed with 32 other Regional winners from all over the country. They earlier had won first place at the Regional competition at GMU, Fairfax, VA to qualify for the Nationals.

Earth Force Supports Students in Solving Watershed Issues

Lanier’s Eco-Team supported by Earth Force & Agrium with various stewardship projects. Many projects funded through Caring for Our Watershed Contest have been implemented on Lanier’s school ground and making a difference.

Kamp Washington Re-development Project

Lanier students propose a 3D model for the re-development of Kamp Washington in Fairfax, VA. They incorporated Smart Growth and sustainability features in their project.
